Corporate matching gift programs are charitable giving programs setup by corporations in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. For example, if a donor works for Ericsson and donates $100 to DRI Foundation, Ericsson will double the donation by also writing a check for $100.
Thousands of companies offer matching gift programs. A few examples include:
- Through the Coca-Cola Matching Gifts Program, eligible employees make personal contributions to qualified organizations and those contributions are matched on a 2-for-1 basis.
- AIG will double-two dollars for every dollar-employee contributions of $25 or more up to a combined total of $5,000 per calendar year per eligible donor and/or spouse.
- The maximum amount matched per eligible employee at GlaxoSmithKline per calendar year is $10,000.
- Bank of America matching gifts program offers a way to double – up to $5,000 per person each calendar year – employees’ cash or securities contributions to their favorite charitable organizations.
