See San Antonio: The Alamo

September 22, 2014 Leave a comment dridrive the most recognizable landmark in San Antonio, the Alamo is visited by more than 2.5 million people each year!

The 4.2-acre complex was the site of a major piece of Texas history, when in February, 1836, a band of Texans and Tejanos defended the compound against a 13-day siege from General Santa Anna before ultimately falling. Today, the Alamo has come to symbolize courage and sacrifice in the face of impossible odds.

Visitors to the site are welcome to take a variety of sightseeing opportunities, including a battlefield tour, a self-guided audio tour, and Darkness at the Alamo, a night-time tour of the Shrine and the Long Barracks Museum, one of the oldest buildings in San Antonio.
