January 2, 2015 Leave a comment dridrive

Information concept: Head With Padlock and Data LossData loss and downtime costs businesses $1.7 trillion — or about half of Germany’s GDP, according to a new global data study.

According to the survey of 3,300 IT decision-makers from medium to enterprise-class businesses in 24 countries, companies lost on average 400% more data over the last two years (the equivalent of roughly 23 million emails).

Adding to the data protection challenges are emerging business trends such as big data, mobile and hybrid cloud. 51% of businesses polled lack a disaster recovery plan for any of these issues — and only 6% have a plan in place for all three!

Who’s ahead of the curve? Leading the protection charge:

  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • The Netherlands
  • Singapore, and
  • The United States.

Lagging behind? Switzerland, Turkey, and the UAE.
