  • This session on disaster risk management (DRM) at the private sector level will focus on supply chain risk management (SCRM) and business continuity planning (BCP). Today’s global supply chain has achieved cost savings through reduced inventories, shortened transit cycles, and streamlined production processes. However, it may be more susceptible to risks related to natural disasters. The panel, which features experts from U.S. and Asia, will discuss how to increase the resilience of the private sector to natural disasters while managing supply chain risks to disasters and implementing BCPs/BCMS in both multinational and small and medium companies. The objective of this session is to introduce state-of-the-art case studies of SCRM and BCPs and draw implications to business and policy-making.
