It’s National PrepareAthon Day!
Would you believe that 60% of American adults haven’t practiced what to do in a disaster? That’s the result of a FEMA survey — which says those adults haven’t participated in any kind of emergency drill in their home, school, or workplace in the last year.
Just as startling: only 39% of respondents have developed an emergency plan and discussed it with their household.
To boost those numbers, FEMA is encouraging everyone to make April 30 National PrepareAthon Day, a day to prepare families and communities to stay safe before, during, and after emergencies by practicing simple actions, such as:
