UNISDR Strategic Approach Document Released Online
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has released the Strategic Approach to Capacity Development for Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction – A Vision of Risk-Informed Sustainable Development by 2030. DRI International is a featured contributor to this document.
The Strategic Approach is designed to be a living document to reflect changes in needs and trends over time, and this space is envisaged to evolve into a platform to capture and share lessons learned, best practices, and examples. With this in mind, the Strategic Approach has been updated and presented into a concise guide format, available for download in whole or section by section, within a new section of PreventionWeb.net – Sendai Framework – Capacity Development.
DRI – credited on page 55 – is proud of its contributions to the document and looks forward to engagement in consultations at Regional Platforms for Disaster Risk Reduction and within the resilience and business continuity fields.
DRI President Chloe Demrovsky will be speaking at the UNISDR Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas, in Cartagena, Colombia, June 20-22. The Regional Platform will represent an opportunity for governments, the private sector, civil society and other actors in the Americas to exchange experiences regarding the implementation of the Regional Action Plan, agreed in March 2017 in Montreal, Canada, as a guide for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in the Americas. Demrovsky will be presenting on the Integration of Risk Management in Private Sector Practices. You can follow the event on Twitter with the hashtag #SendaiAmericas.
