- Week 1 (September 1-5): Make A Plan – Talk to friends and family about communicating before, during, and after a disaster – and update your plan based on CDC recommendations due to the coronavirus.
- Week 2 (September 6-12): Build A Kit – Gather supplies that will last after a disaster. Don’t forget to consider the unique needs of each person (and pet!) in case you have to evacuate quickly. DRI staffers have theirs ready to go, and we’ll show them off on our social media feeds!
- Week 3 (September 13-19): Prepare for Disasters – Limit the impacts disasters by knowing the risk of disasters in your area, prepare your home or facility to face storms and other common hazards and act fast if you receive a local warning or alert.
- Week 4 (September 20-26): Teach Youth About Preparedness – Talk to your kids about preparing for emergencies and what to do in case you are separated, and let them know how they can get involved. Each year, the DRI Foundation takes these steps with its scholarships available to high school seniors and college undergraduates in the U.S. and Canada.
