DRI FAQ 10/01/20: CEAPs, Certification Renewal, and Much More

October 1, 2020 Leave a comment DRI Admin
To help our resilience community navigate this challenging time, we’re here to answer all your DRI questions in this continuing FAQ column gathered directly from real questions from real professionals!

Q: If my certification period is listed as longer than the usual two year period, am I required to earn more than 80 continuing education activity points (CEAPs) for renewal? How does it work
A: You will still only need to earn 80 CEAPs in order to meet certification renewal requirements. So for example, if your certification began on July 1, 2020 and the certification period runs through Dec. 31, 2022, then you will need to earn a total of 80 CEAPs during that time period.

Q:  Upon completion of the ARMP certification, what is the best way to add this to my list of credentials – behind your name?
A: Absolutely! DRI certifications are widely recognized professional designations which can be added directly behind your name on your business card, signature line and all your professional online profiles. And don’t forget to claim your digital badge once your certification has been approved which can also be displayed next to your name.
Q. What are the requirements for obtaining a CBCP designation?
A: The CBCP level of certification requires more than two years of experience in business continuity/disaster recovery. Applicants must be able to demonstrate specific and practical experience in five of the subject matter areas of the Professional Practices (written essays and references) and must also pass the Qualifying Examination. Complete CBCP certification details can be found here. Please note that all DRI individual certification requirements can be found on our website, https://drii.org/.
Q: Are there any changes to Continuing Education Activity Points (CEAPs) requirements due to Covid-19 especially since most conferences have been cancelled?
We understand that earning CEAPs has been challenging during this time and strive to provide more online activities to do so which do not require conference attendance. We currently offer access to free webinars and are providing increased availability to online courses and workshops. The full list of CEAP activities is accessible at https://drii.org/maintaincertification. You can also contact us directly at driinfo@drii.org / 866-542-3744 and we would be more than happy to guide you personally so you can maintain your certification during this difficult time.
Q: I would like to access more resources available in the DRI library and do not remember my DRI account number or password. Do I need to create a new account?
A: No, if you are unsure of what your DRI account number or password is, please click on the ‘Forgot Your Password?’ link on the main DRI login page: https://drii.org/login. You will be able to reset your password with the email address associated with your DRI account. If your email address is no longer current, please contact the DRI office.

Q: I was recently certified and am living outside of the United States. Will I still be able to receive the DRI plaque and pin?
A: Yes, absolutely. DRI Certified Professionals living outside the United States are only required to pay for shipping fees and we will be able to ship these items to you directly. To request a plaque, you can email us at driinfo@drii.org.

Q: I would like to take a DRI course online and my company has been supportive of this during remote working. Before I register, is there an option for the course fee to be billed directly to my company instead of using a personal credit card?
A: Yes, we can certainly invoice your company. Please contact us directly at driinfo@drii.org / 866-542-3744 and we can register you for the selected course and email an invoice to be billed separately to your company instead.
