AI in Resilience: A Recap from the DRI2025 Closing Session
DRI2025, the most-attended conference in business continuity and resilience, concluded with a powerful final session that placed the spotlight on DRI Certified Professionals. Designed to be both innovative and interactive, the session tackled one of the most transformative forces shaping our industry today – artificial intelligence (AI).
Rather than a traditional panel, this session brought together professionals from diverse sectors, sharing real-world AI applications and sector-specific perspectives. The result? A highly engaging and insightful discussion that resonated across industries.
AI Adoption: From Skepticism to Integration
Ray Seid, MBCP, moderated the session and began by reflecting on his own journey with AI – one that started with skepticism and fear of the unknown but has since evolved into full adoption. He highlighted how AI has enhanced efficiency in his daily work, from refining communications to automating time-consuming tasks like summarizing tabletop discussions. As AI continues to reshape business continuity and disaster recovery, certified professionals are leading the charge in leveraging AI for greater operational resilience.
AI in Action: Insights from DRI Certified Professionals
Governance & Risk Management
As a recognized leader in AI governance, one CBCP working in consulting services holds one of the world’s only AI governance certifications. They emphasized the growing necessity for organizations to implement AI policies and risk frameworks to maintain compliance and mitigate emerging threats.
Healthcare Sector
For healthcare professionals, another attendee shared that AI is revolutionizing patient analytics and predictive healthcare models in a multi-billion dollar billion healthcare system. On a personal level, this CHPCP shared that their AI-powered fitness app has been a game-changer, helping maintain a perfect workout streak -a lighthearted yet relatable example of AI’s everyday influence.
Telecommunications & Finance
AI is streamlining quality assurance and financial processes in the telecom sector, according to a member of a telecommunications team who said they leverage AI to validate citations and references, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Another attendee working in finance said they use AI for transaction verification, spending pattern analysis, and cost management.
Enterprise Risk & Strategy
AI is now an essential tool for risk assessment and strategic decision-making, said an ABCP in the financial services sector who emphasized how AI enhances scenario validation, assumption testing, and data-driven resilience planning, making continuity strategies more precise and efficient.
Government & Emergency Management
While government AI adoption remains limited, a representative of state emergency management outlined its potential role in emergency response and the challenges of integrating AI into public-sector operations.
An MBCP also in emergency management echoed these sentiments but expressed optimism about AI’s future role in governmental preparedness and disaster management.
The Future: AI & The Certified Professional
The session ended on a high note, with a palpable energy in the room. Despite the large audience, it felt like a tight-knit, collaborative discussion – a testament to DRI’s community-driven approach to professional development.
As AI continues to shape business continuity, risk management, and emergency response, DRI Certified Professionals are at the forefront of integrating AI-driven strategies. The future of resilience is smarter, faster, and AI-powered—and together, we are leading the way.
Thank You!
Seid ended the session with a special thank you to all the DRI Certified Professionals who contributed to this groundbreaking discussion at DRI2025. “This is just the beginning,” he said. “Let’s continue to train, prepare, and recover – better and faster than ever!”
About the Presenter:
Raymond Seid is an MBCP, CBCLA, ARMP, CHPCP, and CCRP with 30 years of experience. He is a Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRI) Instructor and serves as a member of the DRI Board of Directors.
Currently working for Teleion Consulting, he works in Amazon’s Corporate Business Resiliency team as the America Regional Business Continuity Leader. Prior to his current role, Seid worked at McKesson just short of eleven years as Senior Director for Business Continuity Service. He led a team focused on delivering business continuity services for McKesson business units companywide — implementing governance, BIA(s), recovery plans and tabletop exercises. He leads a team of internal BC consultants focused on delivery. Prior to this he was allocated to a specific business unit as program manager responsible for the McKesson Financial Center’s (MFC) business continuity program. The program focused on functions required to support activation and management of MFC business continuity planning in the event of a disaster at the Las Colinas, TX facility. These include emergency response team activation, damage assessment, triggering process, declaration criteria, and other support functions.
